Each year, Virginia Tech gives employees who served in the military a gift of appreciation in honor of their service to our country. Approximately 300 employees who have self-identified as military veterans received an invitation to Veterans Day observance events, hand delivered by members of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets.
The annual Community Kick-Off event on Aug. 29 at 4 p.m. in the Squires Student Center's Commonwealth Ballroom will feature welcome receptions for students to meet, connect, and learn about different student communities and important resources.
A team of Virginia Tech experts will observe the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day, by engaging the public in helping to bring the written reflections of U.S. soldiers to a broad audience.
The observances begin with a Veterans Day remembrance ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in the War Memorial Chapel. Professor of Aerospace Studies Col. Cameron Torrens, who oversees Virginia Tech’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 875, will speak.
