Experience the technological capabilities of the Moss Arts Center Cube, a four-story theatre and high-tech laboratory that serves multiple platforms of creative practice, through original compositions created by a group of sonic technology leaders from around the world from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 14.

Presented by Virginia Tech’s Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology, the event will be held in the Moss Arts Center Cube at 190 Alumni Mall. The event is free and open to the public. Seating capacity is limited, however, and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The public presentation is the culminating event of the inaugural Spatial Audio Workshop being held on the Virginia Tech campus. The workshop features an international group of renowned sonic technology leaders with researchers from Berklee College of Music, Rhode Island School of Design, the London Metropolitan University, Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City, and the University of Cincinnati.

The Cube offers a 124.4 speaker multichannel environment suspended from four levels and a floor-standing 10-channel array of speakers. Workshop participants will design, create, and compose multichannel soundscapes that will push the limits of the Cube’s capabilities. This research is exploring new boundaries in spatial audio, using of one of the most advanced multichannel systems in the world.

Parking is available in the North End Parking Garage on Turner Street. Virginia Tech faculty and staff possessing a valid Virginia Tech parking permit can enter and exit the garage free of charge. Limited street parking is also available. Parking on Alumni Mall is free on weekdays after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
