Schiffert Health Center to distribute flu prevention kits to campus residents
BLACKSBURG, Va., September 30, 2009 -- In an effort to educate students about effective prevention methods for influenza and other viruses, Virginia Tech's Schiffert Health Center, a department within the Division of Student Affairs, will distribute flu prevention kits to campus residents early next month.
Approximately 9,300 kits will be distributed in campus residence halls and will contain hand sanitizer, mask, tissues, digital thermometer, bandages, information about seasonal and novel H1N1 flu viruses, and information about Schifferts self-care cold clinic.
To help keep cases of influenza to a minimum during the upcoming flu season, Schiffert Health Center is sponsoring vaccination clinics for students beginning October 27, and the university is sponsoring an educational poster campaign highlighting illness prevention techniques.
Additional information about vaccinations and flu prevention is available at Virginia Techs flu season website.
