BLACKSBURG, Va., September 24, 2009 -- Maroon 5 will be making the fifth stop of its Back to School tour at Virginia Tech on Nov. 10, 2009. The concert will be held in Burruss auditorium. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. and are available at the University Unions and Student Activities Ticket Office, located on the first floor of Squires Student Center. Ticket office hours are also posted online. Admission for Virginia Tech students is $30 and general public admission is $40. Purchases are limited to six tickets.

Capturing its first of three Grammy awards as “Best New Artist” of 2005, and going on to sell more than fifteen million albums worldwide, Maroon 5 won over fans and critics alike with their hybrid rock/R&B sound. The band’s releases have gone gold and platinum in over 35 countries around the world.

The opening act for Maroon 5 will be K’Naan, a hip hop singer/songwriter who has previously worked with Adam Levine. K’Naan’s first album is Troubadour, which includes his newest hit “Wavin’ Flag.” K’Naan will be performing at all locations during the tour.

The performance at Virginia Tech is sponsored by the Virginia Tech Union, the Student Government Association, and Hillel at Virginia Tech, three organizations which pooled their resources to make the concert possible.

To get opinions about the student body’s needs and concerns, the Student Government Association will be conducting a contest to win front row tickets to the concert. Details about the contest will be posted on their website.

For the night of the concert, free parking is available around the Drillfield with a visitor's pass from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. No pass is necessary on the Drillfield after 8p.m. or on weekends. Parking is also available in Perry Street Lots 1, 3, 4 and 6 near Prices Fork Road. Find more parking information online or call Parking Services at (540) 231-3200.
