NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION, April 30, 2008 -- Virginia Tech National Capital Region and the National Defense University Information Resources Management College have signed a memorandum of understanding designed to strengthen the quality and resources of academic programs at both universities.

Under the agreement, students who obtain a certificate in information assurance from the college can transfer some graduate-level course credits into selected graduate programs within the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech.

“The memorandum of understanding promotes an educational environment where faculty and graduate students from both institutions can share information and knowledge and this will be instrumental in attracting more qualified students into Virginia Tech’s master of information systems degree program,” said Ing-Ray Chen, professor and director, computer science, National Capital Region.

“Virginia Tech welcomes this opportunity to team with such a well-respected university as the National Defense University in our continuing efforts to form partnerships that meet the expanding educational needs of the communities we serve,” said Jim Bohland, vice president and executive director of Virginia Tech National Capital Region operations.
