Virginia Industrial Development Authorities Institute to host seminar for industry leaders, April 15-16
BLACKSBURG, Va., April 3, 2008 -- Government administrators and economic and community development professionals have the opportunity to learn about best practices in industrial development for their area at the Virginia Industrial Development Authority Institutes two-day seminar to be held April 15-16 at the Hilton Garden Inn Suffolk in Suffolk, Va.
The seminar focuses on developing a positive business environment and cultivating the supporting infrastructure beneath that environment. Topics covered during the weekend include legal roles in economic development, public and private financing tools for localities, international assistance for industrial development authorities, consultative selling practices, and marketable industrial sites and buildings. Additionally, experts in the field will be on hand to provide insight on the practices and procedures involved in economic development.
Coordinated by the Virginia Techs Office of Economic Development, the institute offers industry leaders the opportunity to:
- Learn from leading industry professionals;
- Update their knowledge of the latest financing techniques;
- Understand legal considerations relating to industrial development;
- Learn new ways to package and market their industrial sites and buildings; and
- Network with other participants.
