Torgersen Hall, completed in 2000, is named for Paul E. Torgersen, Virginia Tech's 14th president. It is connected to Newman Library by Torgersen Bridge that crosses over Alumni Mall.
Torgersen Hall houses classrooms that can be configured for televised distance learning; 150- and 300-seat auditoriums; InnovationSpace, a media center for students and faculty; and an atrium for studying or gathering. The bridge has ceiling to floor windows, student computers, couches, and a large open space for group meetings.
