Rasche Hall, which had housed members of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, closed in summer 2013. University planners envision replacing Rasche and Brodie halls with state-of-the-art residence halls to house more than 1,000 cadets.
Demolition on Rasche Hall began on Nov. 12, 2013, with some ceremonial swings of the sledgehammer.
Brodie and Rasche halls, the main dormitories for the corps were built in 1894 and 1900 respectively, and the “new” sections were added in 1957.
