Located in 1140 Torgersen Hall, the InnovationSpace is a multimedia computer lab open to the students, faculty, and staff of Virginia Tech, as well as the local general public. It provides assistance through free and open access to software, hardware, and specially-trained staff.
Some of the services that they provide include one-on-one assistance through walk-ins or scheduled consultations. Walk-in assistance is on a first-come, first-served basis, so if your question or project is complex, students are encouraged to make an appointment for a consultation.
InnovationSpace has equipment loans for in-class assignments or out-of class personal projects. The equipment that can be loaned include: digital audio recorders, digital still cameras, video cameras, and video camera accessories. Equipment is on a first-come, first-serve basis for up to three days, and must be reserved a week before use. What is available to be reserved can be seen in real time on the InnovationSpace website.
The InnovationSpace mainly supports multimedia-editing software, such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign, and several others. To learn more about the software, hardware, and other services that the IS provides, please see their website, http://www.is.vt.edu/.
All consultations, loans, or questions, can be done by filling out this form, http://www.is.vt.edu/contact, which is also available on the website.
