From: Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets
The training cadre for the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets' incoming Class of 2015 arrived on campus a week ago and have been preparing for the arrival of the new class. In addition to these approximately 100 upperclassmen, 385 new cadets that make up the new freshman Corps of Cadets class arrived on campus on Saturday, August 13 to begin New Cadet Week training.
The training will occur throughout this week and the cadets will be visible on the Drillfield starting daily at 0545 for physical training and throughout the day on the Drillfield and Upper Quad areas. Cadets will be drilling this week and often may be seen with demilitarized (no firing pin) rifles. The week will culminate with a parade marking the acceptance of the New Cadets into the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets which will be held Saturday, August 20 at 10 a.m. on the Drillfield.
During the parade, the Highty-Tighties, the Regimental Band, will play and Skipper, the corps cannon, will be fired.
