Identity Standards and University Style Guide updated

From: University Relations

To the University Community,

Please be advised of a newly updated (June 2010) Identity Standards & University Style Guide manual, which is available as an online version through the University Relations homepage and www.branding.unirel.vt.edu. This information replaces the last online version uploaded in 2008 and a printed version last updated in March 2007. The manual details visual and textual guidelines and standards for print and Web as well as guidelines for broadcasters.

The new identity materials are available in PDF format for download with a Virginia Tech faculty or staff PID and password. Updates and changes have been incorporated into this online version, along with a newly redesigned branding website that is more user-friendly and more closely tied to the current Identity Standards & University Style Guide in its organization and content.

The primary changes of note are as follows:

  1. Use of the registered mark with the Virginia Tech logo is now required on all publications, brochures, and advertising.
  2. The primary contact for questions related to identity and branding is now branding@vt.edu. (previously identity@vt.edu)
  3. A new Logo Request Form has been added to the website for students, non-faculty/staff, and outside entities to request the use of the Virginia Tech logo.
  4. More information is provided related to the Ensemble Content Management system for Web templates.
  5. Style Guide changes include the updated EO/AA statement revision and the number of colleges (nine).

Questions about identity standards not answered in this manual should be directed to branding@vt.edu or 540/231-3899.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
