Sidewalks off limits to skateboards and bicycles downtown
The Blacksburg Police Department would like to remind the university community that the use of skateboards, in-line skates, and roller skating is prohibited on the streets and sidewalks of downtown Blacksburg. Cyclists are welcome in the downtown streets, but reminded to follow all rules of the road that apply to motorists. When possible, bicyclists should use the network of greenway trails that stretch throughout the town. At no time are bicycles allowed on downtown sidewalks.
Skateboarders are encouraged to use the town's Skate Park located at 615 Patrick Henry Drive, across the street from Blacksburg High School. The park was designed by legendary skater Wally Hollyday and built by California Skate Parks. It includes a street course at the lower end and a 9 ½ foot deep skate bowl.
