Student organization to host date auction benefiting New River Valley Boys and Girls Clubs

The ladies of Gamma Delta Sigma (GDS), a social and service sorority within Virginia Techs Student Activities, are hosting their second date auction to raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the New River Valley on Tuesday, November 3 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The auction will be held at Hokie House in downtown Blacksburg and is open to all members of the Virginia Tech and Blacksburg communities.
The participating organizations include Tau Kappa Epsilon, Sigma Nu, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Pi Lambda Phi, and GDS. Members from each organization will be auctioned to the highest bidder. Joshua Nestor, a member of Delta Sigma Phi, a junior from Frederick, MD majoring in computer engineering in the college of engineering, will introduce the bachelors and bachelorettes as they hit the runway for bidding.
Bidding isnt the only way to contributedonations are welcome at the door and there is a two dollar entrance fee which also goes directly to the Boys and Girls Clubs. Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary snacks while supporting a local cause. No alcohol will be served from the upstairs bar during the event. The upstairs bar will reopen at 9 p.m.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the New River Valley is GDSs charity philanthropy. Taylor Gregoria, a senior from Virginia Beach, VA majoring in English in the college of liberal arts and human sciences, is the philanthropy chair for GDS. She is organizing the date auction and is also the organizations liaison to the Boys and Girls Clubs. The Boys and Girls Clubs of the New River Valley is a safe place for kids to learn and grow, with recreational activities, summer camp, and after-school programs.
Gamma Delta Sigma is a new organization to Virginia Tech. Founded in 2008, the organizations mission is to enhance the college experience through sisterhood. Their dedication to philanthropies is evident by their participation in events such as Relay For Life, the Big Event, the German Clubs Gold Rush, and Alpha Phis (http://vtalphaphi.com/) Keep the Beat Week where they won first place in the competition.
