Campus Notice
Warning about fraudulent copier solicitors
From: Tami Akers, Copier Management Program
As a representative and main point of contact for the Virginia Tech Copier Management Program it has been brought to my attention by several of our customers that 'outside' solicitors are contacting CMP customers under false pretenses in an effort to obtain copier information (make, model, meter read, etc) and/or alerting them to the fact that they are in need of toner and an order is being shipped to them (which is followed by an enormous invoice). PLEASE do not relay any machine information to these callers and DO NOT accept any toner/supplies that may be shipped to you. Simply let them know that CMP can provide them any information they need and give them our phone number (231.1622). Usually if you question exactly who they are and what company they are with they will immediately hang up. All service and supplies for CMP customers are provided by the Copier Management Program through our contracted vendor (currently Virginia Business Systems). If anyone has any questions or concerns about this 'scamming' issue please don't hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your support and attention to this matter.
For more information, contact Tami Akers at 231.1622.
