Alumni Award for Research Excellence call for nominations

On behalf of the Alumni Association, the Office of the Vice President for Research invites you and your faculty to submit nominations for the Alumni Award for Research Excellence. Two awards, with at most one in any college, will be given in the coming year and will be presented at a ceremony in late-August, 2009. Each recipient will be awarded $2000 and a plaque. Individuals who were nominated last year will automatically be considered for an award again this year by the committee, but the nominator is encouraged to update their nominees’ dossiers. Please have the nominees' list publications by category and provide, within their dossier, a separate listing of grants and contracts that they have been awarded.

Nominations should be sent electronically to Cindy Montgomery (cindylynn@vt.edu, PDF files preferred) by close of business on December 1, 2008. Letters of recommendation will be due at the Office of the Vice President for Research by close of business on January 12 with awards being chosen no later than March 2. Nominators may contact Cindy Montgomery (cindylynn@vt.edu or 1-6077) by January 12 to confirm that letters of recommendation for their nominees have been received.
