Work/Life Resources offers variety of services for faculty and staff
Virginia Tech Work/Life Resources strives to support a healthy integration of work and personal life for the diverse group of faculty and staff who work at the University. A comfortable work/life balance allows employees to contribute their best efforts to academic and diversity goals.
Services include:
- Information regarding local dependent care options for children, the elderly, and those with disabilities.
- The Lactation Facilities Network, consisting of 11 dedicated spaces around the Virginia Tech campus.
- "Welcome to Blacksburg," a brochure and links to on-line community information regarding education, health care, recreation, etc. for new or potential employees. These are available to assist search committees and may be requested from Work/Life Resources.
- A resource library of books and videos addressing work/life concerns such as parenting, aging, bereavement, diversity and more.
- "Responding to a Death in the University Community," a newly developed protocol to aid departments in the business and emotional response to an employee death.
Related programs of interest include:
- The VT Child Development Center for Learning and Research, a nationally accredited, full-day program for children aged 15 months to five years.
- VT Adult Day Services, providing a friendly and stimulating environment for adults unable to be alone during the day.
- The Dual Career Assistance Program, responding to the needs of dual career couples.
- Work/Life Grants providing temporary financial aid to expectant graduate assistants.
- The VT Employee Resource Center, linking employees to support services throughout the university.
- The Valley Interfaith Child Care, Inc., a non-denominational organization offering reduced rate child care for working families who meet income requirements.
