At approximately 9:15 a.m., the Blacksburg Police Department issued the following press release about a suspicious incident.

At approximately 5 a.m., the Blacksburg Police Department responded to the 600 block of Progress Street in reference to a suspicious incident.

Witnesses in the area advised they had heard a woman screaming, but could not ascertain the location it was originating from. Investigation revealed that a woman was seen entering a vehicle during the above time frame in the general area, but it is unknown if she was involved in the incident. She is described as a white female in her early twenties with red tint in her hair.
