In honor of all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, their family, and friends, and to recognize the dedicated efforts of all the first responders that worked so tirelessly, the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets will hold a silent formation at 7 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11.

The ceremony will be held at the flagpole on the Upper Quad behind Lane Hall. Lane Hall is located at 280 Alumni Mall. The regiment will be formed between Lane, Shanks, and Major Williams Halls. The Color Guard will raise the flag and the Gregory Guard, the Corps of Cadets rifle precision drill team, will perform a rifle salute. Immediately following, two buglers from the Highty-Tighties, the regimental band, will play Echo Taps.

Many first responders from the campus and local community will participate in the ceremony. All are welcome to join the Corps of Cadets for this event. The ceremony will last no more than 30 minutes.

Parking information is available online.

Later in the day, the Corps of Cadets will hold a formal retreat ceremony at 4:45 p.m., also at the flagpole on the Upper Quad, as part of Corps Homecoming.
