At 2 p.m. today, the Virginia Tech Police Department received a report of an assault that occurred approximately one hour earlier, near Deet's Place in Dietrick Dining Hall. The assault involved forcible fondling against the will of the victim.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., a female was having a conversation with a known individual who touched her in a sexual manner against her will. The victim was able to stop the incident with minimal force and the suspect left the area before police arrived. 

The suspect is described as a white male, 51 years of age, 5 foot, 10 inches tall, 170 pounds, gray hair neatly styled, and brown eyes. The suspect is known to drive a four door Saturn, gray in color, bearing Virginia license plates. The suspect has been identified and, pending further investigation, has been barred from campus premises.

Virginia Tech Police would like to remind all community members of the following:

  • Be aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts.
  • Sexual assault is non-consensual sexual activity, ranging from unwanted sexual touching to forced intercourse.
  • Call Virginia Tech Police Department immediately to report all suspicious people and circumstances.
