Virginia Tech Board of Visitors to meet June 5-6

BLACKSBURG, Va., May 31, 2011 – The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors will hold its quarterly board meeting at 1:15 p.m. Monday, June 6, in the Board Room of Torgersen Hall (Room 2100) on the Blacksburg campus.

On Sunday, June 5, an information session for the full board will be held from 2 to 3:45 p.m. in the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute Conference Center Auditorium.

Following the information session, the Research Committee will meet in open session from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Executive Conference Room at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute.

In addition, the following committee sessions will be held on Monday, June 6. All meetings will be held at Squires Student Center unless otherwise noted:

  • The Academic Affairs Committee will meet in closed session at 8:30 a.m. and will meet in open session at 9 a.m., both meetings will be in Room 219.
  • The Buildings and Grounds Committee will meet in front of the Inn at Virginia Tech to walk to the Visitors and Undergraduate Admissions Center for a tour of the new facility. Committee members will then travel to the Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science (ICTAS) II Building for a tour. At the conclusion of the second tour, committee members will meet in open session at 10:30 a.m. in Brush Mountain Room A. At 11:30 a.m., Buildings and Grounds will meet jointly with the Finance and Audit Committee in open session in Room 341/345.
  • The Finance and Audit Committee will meet in closed session at 7:30 a.m. in the Yorktown Room and will meet in open session at 8:30 a.m. in Room 341.
  • The Student Affairs and Athletics Committee will meet in open session at 8:30 a.m. in the Brush Mountain Room B.

During the two-day meeting, the board will consider resolutions to revise the Pass/Fail Policy for undergraduate studies, to establish a new bachelor’s degree in meteorology, to establish the Department of Population Health Sciences, the 2012-2018 Capital Outlay Plan, the 2011-2012 compensation of graduate assistants, and the 2011-2012 university budget and associated budgets.
