Virginia Tech has released the 2009-2010 academic year post-graduation report.
Almost half of last year's graduates were either employed or had job offers within six months of graduation. Further, more than two-thirds felt their new employment fit in well with their career goals and a majority felt that their new employment is closely related to their academic major.
The entire post-graduation report for the 2009-2010 academic year can be found online. Sixty-three percent of the graduates responded to the survey.
Among the information included in the report:
- The last seven years have witnessed an increase in the percentage of graduates continuing their education, currently standing at 27 percent;
- College of Science and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences graduates continue education at the highest percentage (45 percent), while College of Architecture and Urban Sciences and Pamplin College of Business graduates continue education at the lowest percentages (13 percent and 12 percent, respectively); and
- 21 percent of graduates are still actively seeking employment six months after graduation, while only 2 percent have not begun to seek employment.
