Julia L. Gregory of Blacksburg, Va., fiscal technician for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech, has been named the Employee of the Year for the college.

Each year, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences recognizes a staff member who performs tasks above normal work performance, demonstrates consistently good work and dedication to the position, and completes his or her job in an exemplary way.

“In transitioning Virginia Cooperative Extension from the use of local checking accounts to a new system, Julia Gregory has shown incredible initiative, customer service, and professionalism,” said Steve Kleiber, director of finance for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Working directly with central administrative offices, the Office of the Controller, the Office of the Bursar, Purchasing, and Extension offices around the commonwealth, Gregory has been instrumental in the successful migration of 112 accounts to the new system. In addition, she has provided training to Extension personnel about the new system through on-site instruction, online presentations, and one-on-one consultations.
