In April 2008, Virginia Tech Relay For Life successfully fielded 303 teams with over 3,100 participants, ultimately raising over $294,000 for the American Cancer Society. Virginia Tech is currently ranked the number one university in terms of fundraising per capita with an enrollment of over 24,000 students.

Virginia Tech Relay for Life is a year-long fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life is a global movement engaging people in the fight against cancer. The next Relay at Virginia Tech will be a twelve-hour event held on April 24, 2009. The theme for the 2009 Relay for Life is “Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.” To celebrate its past success, Virginia Tech Relay for Life has already begun fundraising efforts. Currently there over 100 teams signed up and others are encouraged to register early and begin fundraising now.

By contributing or taking part in Relay for Life, you are helping in the fight against cancer. Virginia Tech Relay for Life, sponsored by the Virginia Tech Student Government Association (SGA) is dedicated to this cause and pledges to raise a record-breaking amount in 2009.
