BLACKSBURG, Va., Aug. 27, 2008 – Gobblerfest, a welcoming event for Virginia Tech students, is coming soon.
University Unions and Student Activities, a department within the Division of Student Affairs is hosting the new event to welcome new and returning students to the communities of Virginia Tech and Town of Blacksburg.
Gobblerfest will be held on Friday, Sept. 5 from 11 to 2 a.m. in and around the grounds of Squires Student Center, outside the Graduate Life Center, and the Library Plaza. The event is free and open to the public.
Activities held between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., include: business showcase expo, student job fair, student organization showcase, VT-ENGAGE volunteer fair, Meet Your Neighbor, the Wayne Robinson Principles of Community Family Run/Walk, the Class of 2010 kick-off concert, food, and prizes. Other attractions include free food, laser tag, a moon-bounce, a medieval joust, a cash vault, photo cutouts, and a climbing wall. Gobblerfest continues with late night activities in Squires Student Center from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The activities will include a comedian, a late night movie, a dance party, Rockband competition, and games in the BreakZONE.
Gobblerfest is being sponsored by University Unions and Student Activities, Dominos Pizza, SunTrust Banks, the Graduate School at Virginia Tech, Virginia Tech Student Alumni Associates, and Fantasy World.
