Gene Seago, of New Castle, Va., the R.B. Pamplin Professor of Accounting at Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of Business, received the 2008 Outstanding Tax Educator Award, co-sponsored by the American Taxation Association and Ernst and Young.

Seago, who has taught at Virginia Tech since 1970, teaches and does research in the areas of income tax accounting and taxation of corporations and partnerships. He has published more than 100 articles on income tax. He has a doctorate in accounting and a law degree, both from the University of Georgia.

The American Taxation Association is largely composed of professors who teach tax in U.S. business schools.
