The Virginia Tech community mourns the loss of Jonathan David Jones of Fredericksburg, Va. a first year student majoring in communication in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

Jonathan fell from a seventh floor window in East Prichard Hall Monday evening. Virginia Tech Police, Virginia Tech Rescue and Blacksburg Rescue responded to the call; he was transported to Montgomery Regional Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. He was 19 years old.

Virginia Tech Police continue to investigate this tragic event and anyone who might have relevant information to this incident is asked to contact Virginia Tech Police and Detective Henley at 231-8121.

Over the past year, the Virginia Tech community has sustained far too many heartaches and pain.
