Alumni of the Virginia Tech Upward Bound program are invited to a special reunion Saturday, August 11, to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Upward Bound is looking for former participants and staff, all of whom are invited to attend.

Events planned for August 11 include a picnic at noon and a dinner and dance starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Banquet Room in Owens Hall. Registration information is available immediately.

The Upward Bound Program at Virginia Tech is a federally funded program designed to assist high school students in making the transition from high school to college. Hundreds of students in southwest Virginia have benefited from the services of the program since its inception in 1967. The program is currently funded to serve students at more than twenty schools in the region in Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, Tazewell, and Wythe counties and the cities of Lynchburg and Martinsville.
