Kimberle Badinelli, Virginia Tech associate director of student programs for public relations and information technology, has been elected vice president of the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS), mid-Atlantic region.

Badinelli has held NACUFS mid-Atlantic region board positions for the past six years, serving as scholarship chair, secretary, and most recently as treasurer. She also serves NACUFS on the national level as a member of both the Industry Research Committee and the Benchmarking Committee. She has been involved with the organization as a member for more than 15 years.

"Being involved in a professional association is an important part of being professional," said Badinelli. "It adds a global dimension to the work one does and provides a networking experience second to none. It's like having all your colleagues participate in many of the decisions one makes."

One of the most significant jobs of the vice president is to oversee the annual regional conference program, and assist the hosting school with its management. Other duties include working with the president to increase membership, selecting individuals who have made outstanding contributions for the Vice President's Award, and performing all duties of the president's office in his or her absence. Her term begins in July and will run through July of 2009.

NACUFS strives to promote the highest quality of foodservice on school, college and university campuses by providing members with educational and training opportunities, technical assistance, scholarships, industry information and research. For more information, visit the NACUFS website.
