Virginia Tech Recreational Sports will host the first ever Ginger’s Jewelry Diamond Dive on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. in the McComas Hall pool. This event is open to all Virginia Tech students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Proceeds from this event will benefit the American Red Cross.

Participants will snorkel or dive to retrieve their prize at the bottom of the pool.

“We are excited about this event because we have so many prizes,” said Allison Zuchowski, assistant director of aquatics at Virginia Tech Recreational Sports. “We hope to get students and families to come out and take their chance at the bottom of the pool and to help benefit a great cause.”

Prizes include a Ginger's Jewelry Bellataire Diamond, bracelet, earrings and 12 cubic zirconias. More than 80 prizes will be available. Participating sponsors include: Ginger’s Jewelry, Student Crew, Applebee's, The Farmhouse Restaurant, Krazy May’s, Texas Steakhouse, Pizza Hut, Backstreets, Famous Anthony's, Blockbuster, Squeaky's Laser Car Wash, TCBY, Cox’s Driving Range, and Shell Rapid Lube.

Plastic eggs will be at the bottom of the pool in the deep and shallow end. Five participants will be allowed to dive for prizes at a time. The order of divers will be based up on participant check-in. The bracelet and earrings will be awarded the day of the event; divers who receive one of the 12 cubic zirconias must go to Ginger’s Jewelry to see if they have won the Bellataire Diamond.

Registration is $10 for three prize eggs. Check-in begins at 4:30 p.m. Participants may purchase three more prize eggs and go again if they want to take another chance.
