Army 1st Lt. Timothy E. Price, a member of the Virginia Tech Class of 2001 and corps of cadets, was killed by hostile fire in Baghdad, Iraq, Tuesday, Sept. 7. He was 25.

"Tim was an outstanding person and cadet; one of the finest people you’ll ever meet," said Col. Rock Roszak, USAF (Ret.), director of alumni programs for the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. "His loss will be felt deeply by many people. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family."

Price was a resident of Midlothian, Va. He received his degree in forestry from the College of Natural Resources. Price most recently visited the Virginia Tech campus in April 2004, when he was one of four panel speakers who addressed Corps of Cadet students.

Local memorials are still being planned. Updates will be posted to the Virginia Tech homepage, http://www.vt.edu/, and the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets website, http://www.vtcc.vt.edu/.
