All University Commencement Ceremony:

  • 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 14, Lane Stadium/Worsham Field.
  • Approximately 30,000 family members and guests are expected to attend the event.
  • Keynote speaker: Pierre Thomas, ABC News U.S. Justice Department correspondent and 1984 graduate of Virginia Tech (communication studies).

Graduate School Commencement ceremony:

  • 3 p.m., Friday, May 14, Cassell Coliseum.
  • Keynote speaker: Orlando L. Taylor, vice provost for research and dean of the Graduate School at Howard University.

Northern Virginia Commencement ceremony:

  • 8 p.m. Saturday, May 15, George Mason University Center for the Arts, Fairfax, Va.
  • Ceremony to honor 275 degree candidates (245 master's degree candidates, 30 Ph.D.s).
  • Keynote speaker: Lawrence J. Korb, Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C.
