Susan Dickerson of Radford, Va., former city editor of the Statesville Record & Landmark in Statesville, N.C., has been named news bureau manager at Virginia Tech. In her new position, she will oversee the distribution of university news and information to both internal (student, faculty and staff) and external audiences.

The Statesville, N.C., native has been a reporter, city editor or copy editor for several daily papers in North Carolina and Virginia. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dickerson and her husband, Drew, have two daughters.

Founded in 1872 as a land-grant college, Virginia Tech has grown to become the largest university in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
